My screen won’t turn on. What should I check first?

Make sure the unit is connected to a 12V power source, check the fuse in the power harness, and verify the ground connection.

Can I install The Captain on a 48V golf cart

Yes, but you’ll need to step the voltage down to 12V DC (10–19V range) before connecting.

How do I connect the cameras?

Use the included 3-pin connectors and supplied mounting brackets. Avoid sharp bends in cables, and adjust the angle with the included Allen wrench.

My GPS isn’t working.

Ensure the GPS receiver has a clear view of the sky. Reconnect it to the green 3-pin cable and restart the system.

How do I know if the unit is recording?

A flashing red circle on the display indicates active recording. If it’s solid white, either no SD card is inserted or recording is off.

What SD card should I use?

A Class 10 or U3 microSD card, minimum 128GB, is recommended for best performance.

How do I save a clip so it doesn’t get overwritten?

Press the Lock icon while recording to protect the file from being looped over.

My screen is frozen.

Power the unit off, wait a few seconds, then power it back on.

Bluetooth won’t pair with my phone.

Delete the device from your phone’s Bluetooth settings, then re-pair through The Captain’s Bluetooth menu.

What format are the recorded videos?

Files are saved in .TS format with embedded GPS data. Use a program like VLC to convert to MP4.
